Mr Puneet Monga

MBBS, MS (Orth.), DNB, MRCS, Dip Sports Med (GB&I), MSc, FRCS (Tr & Orth.), MD

Puneet Monga is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder problems. His surgical practice focuses on arthroscopic shoulder surgery, sports injury, shoulder replacement and shoulder fracture surgery. Puneet's NHS base is Wrightington Hospital in Wigan, and his private practice is based at BMI The Alexandra Hospital (Cheadle), HCA The Wilmslow Hospital and John Charnley Wing at Wrightington Hospital. Puneet's surgical interests include the management of rotator cuff disorders, sports injuries, arthritis and shoulder stiffness.

His research interests include biomechanics of the shoulder, assessment of surgical outcomes and the application of modern technology - including the use of 3D printing to improve surgical treatment. Puneet holds Honorary Senior Lecturer posts at the University of Salford and Edge Hill University. He regularly serves as a member of Faculty and is a convener for various shoulder surgery courses held nationally and internationally.

Having completed his orthopaedic training and various post-graduate qualifications, Puneet undertook fellowship at Wrightington Hospital. In addition he travelled to work in Houston, San Antonio and New York (USA) as a British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) fellow, and also visited shoulder services in Zurich (Switzerland) and Stockholm (Sweden) as a British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) fellow, before returning to take up his current post as orthopaedic consultant at Wrightington NHS Hospital.
